When the first vampire started terrorizing people, action was quickly taken. He was eventually caught, and ordered to death. At his execution, he reveled that the vampire plague had started much earlier than him. He spoke of the original vampire as if he was very familiar with it. In fact, he spoke as if it was still alive, and hunting to this day. He said that, with his death, humanity would have sealed their fate, and that the vampires from all over the world would start attacking, till there were no humans left. No-one believed him.
It didn't start right away. Humans lived on for a few thousand years, and eventually forgot the vampire's threat. But, to one elite group, the thought of a vampire attack never waned. They continued to train, every day diligent, and never letting themselves be known. There were a few who found out about this group, and they spurned them. Not long after that, the vampires struck.
They had little remorse for any, let alone women and children. They could care less about the crippled or elderly. Royalty and poverty meant little to them. None were safe from their vicious onslaught.
Despite having been spurned, the elite group, commonly known as the Belmont Clan, fought for the people. For everything that the vampires were, the Belmont Clan was the exact opposite, with only one similarity. They too didn't care the status of any human. Everyone was worth saving.
The war between the Belmonts and the vampires waged for such a long time, that the numbers of both dwindled down to little more than a few hundred vampires, and only ten Belmonts. The vampires went into hiding, turning humans into vampires to increase their numbers. The Belmonts changed their tactics. Instead of attacking the vampires head on, they would hunt them when they were weakest, during the day.
The fighting was slow, and no headway was made. It was finally decided that in order to end the vampires for good, the head vampire would have to be killed.
At this time, the head vampire was none other than Dracula. The head of the Belmont clan was a man known as Trevor Belmont. He, alone, found Dracula's castle, and put an end to him. However, somehow, Dracula was resurrected. He was resurrected many times, and each time, he was defeated by a new Belmont.
There were two vampires who turned against Dracula. Most well known was Alucard, Dracula's son. The other isn't well known. He was well known for helping defeat Dracula, then sealing himself away. She, though she isn't well known, was a fierce fighter, even more so than Alucard. After Dracula's final defeat, she disappeared, and was never seen again.
Now, Thousands of years after, the tales of Dracula, and the vampires, have been forgotten. However, The Belmont Clan still lives, and trains, just in case. Ryan is one such Belmont. He started off as the lowest of the low, He couldn't even learn to use the Belmont's trademark weapon, a whip. Instead, he preferred to use his own hands, or other weapons, like the sword, the ax, and his most proficient, the battle spear. When his views became more widely accepted, he rose to a higher rank within his brethren's eyes. He then quickly became known as the strongest, and most able of the Belmont Clan.
However, this wasn't enough for him. He knew that he had a greater purpose. He wanted to test himself, and become even more renowned. The only way to accomplish this was to fight a vampire, on their terms, and grounds, and win. But there were no vampires left. With Alucard sealing himself away, the vampires were cursed to never be able to turn another human, so Ryan could never fight with him. Vampires were so scarce that his chances of finding one that was even strong enough to steal blood from time to time was hard enough. His search for the ultimate challenge came to an unfortunate stop.
That is, until somehow, the seal on Alucard was broken! Alucard was killed by a lesser vampire before his power could return to him, ending the curse, and ensuring that the curse could never return to the vampires. It was finally time for the Belmont Clan to take up arms again.
